Introduction

The Archival Collections and Management Team (ACM) within the University Archives Department is responsible for the arrangement, description, management, and access of Hesburgh Libraries’ archival and special holdings across the University of Notre Dame Archives, the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, and the Architecture Archives.

ACM adheres to professional standards of archival theory and content standards for the arrangement and description of materials. Description and arrangement work observes the rules set out in Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS) and EAD3. All processing work is conducted following DACS’ Statement of Principles.

ACM upholds standards described in the Society of American Archivists’ Code of Ethics and Core Values, a set of “aspirational values and ethical principles” meant to “shape…expectations for professional actions and engagement.”
