The Archival Collections and Management Unit (ACM) is responsible for the arrangement, description, management, and access of Hesburgh Libraries’ archival and special collections holdings across the department of Rare Books and Special Collections and the University of Notre Dame Archives.

ACM adheres to professional standards of archival theory and content standards for the arrangement and description of materials. Description and arrangement work observes the rules set out in Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS) and EAD3. All processing work is conducted following DACS’ Statement of Principles.

Furthermore, ACM upholds standards of professionalism described in the Society of American Archivists’ Code of Ethics and Core Values, a set of “aspirational values and ethical principles” meant to “shape…expectations for professional actions and engagement.”
