Irish Experience League Kicks Off It’s Spring Season

Mr. Keith Embray and the Boys!

The sun was out and so were the talented young athletes of South Bend! The first weekend of the Irish Experience League (IEL) at the new Kroc Community Center was a nice success.  Soccer was first on the schedule and former Irish midfielder Andrew Luttrell did a great job leading the youth in some dribbling and passing drills.

Next on the docket at the Kroc Center was flag football. We had great turnout and young Irish fans from across South Bend enjoyed competing on the Kroc Center’s new field turf surface.

IEL Coach Matt Weldy headed up our flag football program at the Martin Luther King Center, while Coaches Kathryn Coneys and Sarah Smith launched our new youth softball program.

After all the games the IEL focus shifted to character development. This week’s Lessons on Success focused on Skylar Diggins’ advice to your athletes that “practice makes perfect,” as well as Mr. Keith Embray’s 3 P’s to success; people, passion and perseverance.

We are grateful to all the Notre Dame students that volunteered their time throughout the day! A special thanks goes out to Keith Embray, former NFL lineman and current Director of Student Athlete Development at Notre Dame.
