Outreach: Penn High School

In collaboration with computer scientists at the University of Notre Dame, I have been conducting research at Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN to identify gaze-based markers of mind wandering (i.e., daydreaming) and using these markers to implement real-time interventions that improve cognitive control and learning.

My colleague Stephen Hutt and I delivered a short presentation to the 9th and 10th grade biology students we have been working with this year to teach them more about 1) our research 2) the scientific process and 3) graduate school in general. Our aim was to not only educate students on our scientific advancements but also to inspire them to consider future careers in STEM.

Thank you to the students at Penn High School for your participation this year!
