Chapter 15: The Industrial Bubble

The final chapter of Harris’s book serves as a warning towards where the world is heading if production and population rates continue along the same trends into the future. Technology is not changing quickly enough to increase production and efficiency at a rate proportional to what it would need to be to support an ever growing population. As one knows from preceding chapters, standard of living decreases when production does not grow with population size and density. He contends that without a dynamic change in technology soon, resources will be depleted quicker than they can be replaced and life as one knew it in 1977 would change drastically.
