Dr. Lindsey Breitwieser (pronounced BRITE-wise-er) is Visiting Scholar of Gender Studies at the University of Notre Dame. She is an ardent advocate for gender, racial, disabled, and class equity and inclusion. She specializes in feminist science and technology studies, disability studies, and feminist philosophy of medicine. Her research focuses on “postmortem pregnancies,” or the maintenance of fetal development in utero after maternal brain death. Her teaching interests center the production of scientific knowledge, material and discursive aspects of mental health/madness, and decolonial and queer of color critiques of the category of the human.
