LUP Photo Contest – London Past and Present

To mark the half-way point in our students’ time in London, the program ran a photo contest, inviting students to submit their best representations of London Past and Present.

As you can see if you visit the gallery of the entries on the LUP Facebook page, the quality of the entries was very high, and after much deliberation it was decided to split the prize.

The First Place award goes to Laurel Komos for her photo “Big Ben, up close”, which caught the judges eye for both it’s aesthetic strength, but also for the clever use of the contest’s theme.

The Highly Commended award was made to Chelsea Palmer for her photo “Goat on the Cityscape”, taken in Spitalsfields, in the East End – one of the sites visited by students in Inside London.

(The goat itself is also an award winner: sculptor Kenny Hunter won the 2010 Spitalsfields Sculpture Prize with this piece)

Congratulations to Laurel and Chelsea, and a big thanks to all our other entrants as well – it was not an easy contest to judge!
