How to Receive

Who Can Receive?

Resource-limited schools with specific instrumentation needs may submit a Statement of Need for donated items. Donations are divided into those items appropriate for secondary schools and those more specialized for colleges.

For high schools, ND LIGHTS designs appropriate lab experiments and trains the recipient teachers on how to use the instruments and perform the experiment. All recipient schools are responsible for the shipping of the equipment.

The ND LIGHTS program cycle is as follows:

  • Rolling Donation Process with emphasis on summer and fall gifts.
  • Determination of college recipients as specialized instrumentation is donated.
  • Development of high school experiments for appropriate donated instrumentation in the Spring semester.
  • Posting of available donations in March/April.
  • Acceptance of Statements of Need from resource-limited schools once donations are posted.
  • Selection of recipients in late spring.
  • Training of recipients in late spring/early summer as schedules permit.

If you are in need of laboratory instrumentation or equipment, please contact Dr. Michelle Joyce at mjoyce@nd.edu to be put on the school list.  Any resource-limited school can apply for donations by submitting a Statement of Need for a particular donation package once they are posted.
