My name is Niraja, and I am a graduate student in Biological Sciences at Notre Dame. My work focuses on malaria (hence, the cheesy blog name – the erythrocyte stowaways) and I’m interested in the protein interactions between the parasite and the host.
I moved to South Bend from another tiny town, State College, Pa. I spent four years in Happy Valley (home to the Nittany Lions) as an undergrad at The Pennsylvania State University. I studied Bioengineering, learned about football (not soccer), and made some amazing memories.
However, for me, home is Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates. My family has spent two decades in this beautiful city, and through the SRR program, I have an opportunity to try and give back to community that I’ve been a part of for so long!
