But that is only one step. The key step is finding the stories within that data to provide insights and to answer questions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How are we doing compared to last month or last year?<\/li>\n<li>Which sponsors provide the majority of our funding?<\/li>\n<li>Which faculty are most active\/least active?<\/li>\n<li>Which departments are successfully collaborating on research projects?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are just some of the questions we\u2019ve been asked by university leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Visualizing our data can help the stories \u2013 or diamonds \u2013 to shine so we can see them more quickly.\u00a0In this session, the University of Virginia and the University of Notre Dame will show the dashboards we\u2019ve developed to meet the growing need for answers about our research programs, and to empower campus leaders to find their data diamonds.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Presenters<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Vonda Durrer<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Senior Director of Electronic Research Administration<br \/>\nUniversity of Virginia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-240\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/2018-accfo\/files\/2018\/04\/vonda_durrer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"206\" height=\"212\" \/>Vonda Durrer is\u00a0Senior Director of Electronic Research Administration at the University of Virginia.\u00a0 In her role, she oversees\u00a0systems and technology initiatives for the Office of Sponsored Programs.\u00a0 She collaborates with faculty, the Vice President for Research, OSP functional experts, School leadership, \u00a0and other UVA departmental staff to support research at Thomas Jefferson&#8217;s University.\u00a0\u00a0You can contact Vonda via mail:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:vd9k@virginia.edu\">vd9k@virginia.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terri Hall<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Director Research Business Intelligence<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>University of Notre Dame<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-239\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/2018-accfo\/files\/2018\/04\/terri_hall.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"271\" \/>Terri Hall is the Director of Research\u00a0Business Intelligence at the University of Notre Dame\u00a0and has 19 years&#8217; experience in research administration.\u00a0She currently leads a team\u00a0focusing on data integrity and reporting on University\u00a0research\u00a0activity\u00a0to advance\u00a0strategic planning, workload management, proposal submissions,\u00a0and\u00a0award stewardship.
