Goals and<\/strong><\/p>\n

Objectives:\u00a0<\/strong>The goal of this course is to provide students with a practical understanding of how to select and use an appropriate statistical method for a given typical problem in the life and health sciences.<\/p>\n

This course will help students to learn and think precisely to evaluate information and apply logical analysis at a very high level in order to make proper decisions in life & health sciences problem situations.<\/p>\n

In this class, you will learn how to organize, analyze and interpret the data and develop decision-making skills based on sound statistical techniques. You will learn the importance of analytical models such as discrete and continuous probability distributions, sampling distributions, confidence interval, hypothesis testing, and other statistical methods.<\/p>\n

Textbook:\u00a0<\/strong>Brigitte Baldi, and David S. Moore (2014). The Practice of Statistics in the Life Sciences<\/u>\u00a0<\/strong>(3rd<\/sup> edition), New York, NY:\u00a0 W.H. Freeman and Company.<\/p>\n

Software:<\/strong>\u00a0 We will be using MATLAB<\/strong>, and Microsoft Excel<\/strong>, which are widely available and used for statistical analysis.<\/p>\n
