We strongly support their call for a fair and merit-based recruitment process and condemn the violent assaults on these peaceful protesters.
We are deeply concerned and saddened by recent reports of violent clashes that have resulted in the deaths of more than 40 people and injuries to hundreds more. These actions are a blatant violation of democratic rights and freedoms. The right to peaceful protest is fundamental to democracy and essential for voicing legitimate grievances. The violent attacks on peaceful protesters are not only a severe affront to democratic principles but also a grave threat to the nation’s progress and stability.
We urge the Bangladeshi authorities to take immediate and decisive action to protect the rights and safety of the protesters, hold the perpetrators accountable, and conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into these acts of violence. Additionally, we call upon the government to engage in constructive and honest dialogue with the students to address their legitimate concerns and find a fair resolution to their demands.
