My dissertation proposal is currently aimed at expanding, and applying the framework authors have developed for understanding the relationship between religious actors and local regime officials to the Central Asian cases. In particular, I am interested in how society comes to factor into this dynamic, especially in differing levels of state capacity.

Working paper – Central Asia
Using Survey data from four Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, n = 4000) to understand the role Internet access and usage plays in political perception/activity.
Working paper – Philippines
A Paper on Religion and Populism in the Philippines. Using ecological data to understand voting patterns for Rodrigo Duterte’s 2016 Presidential election. Then taking our findings from the Philippines, and observing where they fit with other cases, and where they do not. This project is being undertaken with David Buckley and Steven Brooke.
