{"id":3716,"date":"2014-02-05T22:34:30","date_gmt":"2014-02-06T03:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nd.edu\/cyclingirish\/?p=3716"},"modified":"2014-02-07T00:14:34","modified_gmt":"2014-02-07T05:14:34","slug":"ergvideo-base-tempo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/cyclingirish\/ergvideo-base-tempo\/","title":{"rendered":"ErgVideo Base-Tempo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just a few days ago, Notre Dame Cycling had the opportunity to do some tempo work with our friends at ErgVideo\u2122.<!--more-->\u00a0 At just over an hour, the \u201ccourse\u201d had us rolling through the countryside of Virginia with a group of four riders.\u00a0 After a 15ish minute warmup, it was time to get moving, and our four video friends in the group made it known they were ready to put the hammer down, with a couple of them making a break for it almost immediately.\u00a0 While we ended up \u201ccatching\u201d them in the end, it made much of the ride feel like a chase.\u00a0 Our ride had us doing the majority of our work above 80% of each of our FTPs, with intervals that had us as high as 120%, with it really depending on the geography.\u00a0 We definitely had some moments of hurt down in the basement of Innovative Endurance on those short, but big, pushes.\u00a0 What was most likable about the program was that it felt like a strong group ride in real terrain.\u00a0 It definitely was not a lolly-gagging Sunday afternoon group ride with stops for ice cream cones in the middle!\u00a0 For those that haven\u2019t been to Virginia to ride, there\u2019s no need now.\u00a0 The ErgVideo\u2122 team didn\u2019t a great job of simulating the rolling nature of that area.\u00a0 Also notable was the fact that despite our differing power outputs, we were all able to still ride together and share in the pain!\u00a0 Given the fact that we were experiencing a hellacious winter day that morning, riding with ErgVideo\u2122 was definitely the smart choice for all of us.
