For those traveling via airplane, South Bend International Airport is the most convenient option for reaching the University of Notre Dame. Once you arrive there, you can get a taxi, Uber, or Lyft to campus and be there in 15-20 minutes.

Chicago’s two major airports, O’Hare and Midway, are also viable options for traveling to the University of Notre Dame. These airports may offer a greater chance of a direct flight, a greater selection of flight times, and lower airfare. Should you choose to fly to one of these airports, there are a couple of options for reaching the University of Notre Dame. If you are up for driving, you could consider renting a car and driving approximately 2 hours to Notre Dame’s campus. If you would like to take public transportation, we recommend taking Chicago public transportation to Millenium Station and then taking the South Shore Line train to South Bend International Airport. From there, you can reach campus with a short 15-20 minute ride. Links to example itineraries for reaching South Bend International Airport from Chicago’s two major airports are provided below.

For those traveling by train, South Bend can be accessed either by the South Shore Line from Chicago or by Amtrak. The Amtrak station is located in downtown South Bend, which is a 15 minute ride from campus.

For those traveling by car, South Bend is located on Interstate 80, which is a toll road in Indiana. US Highways 6, 20, and 31 also lead to South Bend.

Bus
Greyhound and Megabus offer direct bus service from several Midwest destinations to South Bend and Notre Dame.
