The article seems to advocate for hiring an attorney in these early stages, for an &#8220;ounce of prevention&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I was most intrigued by the specific example of Snapchat. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1564408\/000119312517029199\/d270216ds1.htm\">recent IPO documents <\/a>show us that Snapchat\u00a0&#8220;agreed to pay [an]\u00a0individual a total of $157.5 million.&#8221; (IPO document at page F-28).<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2017\/02\/03\/snapchat-reggie-brown\/#CBjPoK3_sqql\"> Further research reveals<\/a> that this individual was actually one of the original co-founders of Snapchat, one who allegedly came up with the idea for the disappearing images. He then sued for a large sum of money, as he claimed that Snapchat was infringing upon his IP.
