She is co-author of <em>The Fight Against Doubt: How to Bridge the Gap Between Scientists and the P<\/em><em>ublic<\/em> (2018) with Kristen Intemann. She was also recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spt.org\/inmaculada-de-melo-martin-the-new-president-elect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> as the new president elect of the Society for Philosophy and Technology.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/J.C.-Havstad-300x253.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/J.C.-Havstad-300x253.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/J.C.-Havstad.png 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Joyce C. Havstad<\/strong> is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Oakland University, specializing in philosophy of science (biology, chemistry, medicine, and paleontology), STS, and science policy. Much of her work has drawn on background training in scientific practice, including fieldwork experience in a marine reserve, gene expression lab, and the Field Museum of Natural History. She is also an avid public philosopher, utilizing various media (comics, video games, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nxQHTd6Kftg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">youtube<\/a>) as tools for improving philosophy outreach and pedagogy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-47 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/Intemann-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/Intemann-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/Intemann.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 159px) 100vw, 159px\" \/> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Kristen Intemann<\/strong> is Professor of History and Philosophy and Chair of Women\u2019s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Montana State University, where she specializes in ethics, philosophy of science, and feminist philosophy. She is co-author of <a href=\"https:\/\/global.oup.com\/academic\/product\/the-fight-against-doubt-9780190869229?cc=us&amp;lang=en&amp;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Fight Against Doubt: How to Bridge the Gap Between Scientists and the Public<\/em><\/a> (2018) with Inmaculada de Melo-Mart\u00edn. Among her other accomplishments, she has become a prolific and important contributor to the increasingly relevant literature on science and values.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-50 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/Morrissey.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"185\" height=\"185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/Morrissey.jpg 280w, https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/hpstv-conference\/files\/2019\/07\/Morrissey-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px\" \/> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Clair Morrissey<\/strong> is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Occidental College, specializing in moral\/political philosophy and practical ethics. Her research interests include bioethics, environmental ethics, aesthetics, and the value of scientific inquiry. She also leads a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxy.edu\/news\/clair-morrissey-philosopher-jungle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">collaboration<\/a> with the Biology department\u2019s fieldwork research program at the Organization for Tropical Studies\u2019 La Selva Biological Station and Reserve in Costa Rica, where philosophy faculty and undergraduates are embedded within and assist with ecological fieldwork.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inmaculada de Melo-Mart\u00edn is Professor of Medical Ethics in Medicine and Reproductive Medicine and Professor of Healthcare Policy and Research at Weill Cornell Medical College, where her research focuses on the intersection of bioethics, philosophy of science, and public health.
