Tuesday, April 25<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Does it matter for our lives if we do wrong to others? \u00a0What might the effect be?<\/p>\n<p>Today, we will watch a marvelous film, &#8220;The Lives of Others,&#8221; which deals precisely with this theme.<\/p>\n<p>We will meet at the Nanovic for both showings of the film, first during class and then at 6:00 pm for pizza and the remainder of the film.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>IMAGE TEN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>THE GASSED: \u00a0&#8220;THE FIRES OF HELL&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>32. \u00a0Thursday, April 27<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">With some notable exceptions, such as Saddam Hussein&#8217;s attacks on Iraq&#8217;s Kurdish population, \u00a0the world seemed to put the use of chemical weapons on the &#8220;battlefield&#8221; behind it after the horrific experiences of World World I. \u00a0Now, the use of chemical weapons has returned to the front page after President Bashar Assad&#8217;s repeated use of never gas against the Syrian people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Discussion<\/em>: In this section, will consider four themes that are related to how we should respond to this returned form of hell. \u00a0They are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Why are chemical weapons so horrifying?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">What is it like to be gassed?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Are we morally obliged to respond with force when these weapons are used against populations?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">To what extent should we respond?
