BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY

For the last four decades, Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County has provided more than 20,000 at-risk children and teens from families in St. Joseph County with a safe place to experience life-enhancing programs that offer academic enrichment, health, and fitness, character development, hope, and opportunity.  With four school-based sites and the free-standing O.C. Carmichael, Jr. Youth Center, the Club serves children from dozens of local schools, including public, private, parochial, charter as well as home-schooled children.  Resulting from 21st Century Community Learning Center funding, the school year will result in a more structured, academically-based program enrolling fewer children but providing more in-depth intervention along specific disciplines, primarily Language Arts and STEM.

CENTER FOR THE HOMELESS

The Center for the Homeless is a residential facility, housing roughly 200 homeless men, women, and children.  More than a shelter, it is a center which enables people to climb out of poverty and involves extensive programming, from counseling and therapy to addiction treatment to classes in goal setting, self-awareness, job training, budgeting, and home management.  Guests can earn their GEDs, obtain externships in the community, and contribute to the daily operation of our facility.  By offering the best resources in our community to the people who need them the most, we provide our guests with the hope and the tools they need to break the cycle of homelessness and do miraculous things with their lives.

CLAY HIGH SCHOOL

Our visual and performing arts program works in tandem with the academic program and promotes stronger math skills and enhanced reading ability. Students can then take advantage of our strong AP offerings and numerous dual credit opportunities in core content areas.  Clay has more College Board approved and audited AP courses and academic dual credit courses than any other SBCSC school.
