Another great year at Science Alive! We had so much fun the last time that we brought back lime-powered LEDs, bouncy bubbles, and cool crystals!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

ND Talent Search Summer Academy (July 2024)<\/strong>
For the third year running, the Jaffe Group had so much fun running hands-on lab activities for ND TRiO Talent Search Summer Academy, a college access program that provides academic, career, and financial counseling to South Bend youth in grades seven through twelve\u2014empowering them to graduate from high school and continue on to complete post-secondary education. This time, we did a series of lab activities including making SLIME!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Science Alive!<\/strong> (February 2024)
Yet another awesome year at Science Alive! This year we powered LEDs with limes, made a demo battery, and blew some awesome bubbles that bounced!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Jaffe Group was at it again and had a blast putting together more hands-on lab activities for ND TRiO Talent Search Summer Academy, a college access program that provides academic, career, and financial counseling to South Bend youth in grades seven through twelve\u2014empowering them to graduate from high school and continue on to complete post-secondary education. The students plate metal using electricity!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Science Alive!<\/strong> (February 2023)
The Jaffe Group was back at Science Alive with even more science demos! In addition to cabbage-water pH indicators and the wide world of crystals, we brought in “warm ice” demonstrations to show real-time crystallization (supersaturated sodium acetate) and iodine clock reactions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students got to split water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jaffe Group had a blast demonstrating the pH indicator properties of anthocyanin from red cabbage and how atoms\/molecules pack in the solid state to form crystals! The 30th anniversary of Science Alive! brought St. Joseph County learners of all ages to see some awesome and fun STEM demonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
