Jaimie Bleck is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame.\u00a0 She specializes in African politics with a focus on education, participation, civil society, and citizenship.\u00a0 Her first book, Education and Empowered Citizenship in Mali<\/a>, was published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2015.\u00a0 She and Nicolas van de Walle published, Continuity in Change: Electoral Politics in Africa<\/a> 1990-2015, with Cambridge University Press in 2018.\u00a0 Her work appears in journals including Governance<\/em>, the Journal of Politics,<\/em> the Journal of Modern African Studies<\/em>, Comparative Political Studies<\/em>, African Affairs<\/em>, Perspectives on Politics<\/em>, PS<\/em>, World Development<\/em>, and Democratization<\/em>. Her research has been funded by grants from the Spencer Foundation, National Science Foundation, USAID-DRG, and the American Council of Learned Societies.\u00a0 She completed her PhD at the Department of Government at Cornell University and received her BA from the University of Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She spent 2014-2015 on sabbatical in Mali researching informal, tea-drinking discussion groups (grinw).<\/em>\u00a0 She is currently working on a book manuscript tentatively entitled, Talking with Youth about Governance: Social Clubs and Social Capital in Mali.Professor Bleck is also a\u00a0concurrent faculty member in the\u00a0Keough School of Global Affairs<\/a>,\u00a0Senior Research Advisor with the\u00a0The Ford Program in Human Development Studies and Solidarity<\/a>, Faculty Fellow with the\u00a0Kellogg Institute\u00a0for\u00a0International Studies<\/a>, and Faculty Affiliate with\u00a0Notre Dame Program for Interdisciplinary Educational Research (ND PIER)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
