In 2023, he was also appointed as the inaugural Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/strategicframework.nd.edu\/initiatives\/poverty-initiative\/\">Notre Dame Poverty Initiative<\/a>. He served on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irp.wisc.edu\/national-poverty-research-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Poverty Research Center<\/a>\u00a0Advisory Board and was a member of the U.S. Commission on Social Impact Partnerships. His research examines poverty and inequality in the U.S. and the effectiveness of anti-poverty programs at the national, state, and local level.
