I have added a link to the ship we will take to Antarctica. It is  LeLyrial, a French ship of the Ponant line.  See link in recent posts.

Antarctica expedition is approaching soon. I will accompany Notre Dame alumni and friends on a  trip of a lifetime.  In just one week now I will fly from South Bend to Buenos Aires.

Flight Plan

I will board Delta flight 4470  from South Bend Indiana to Atlanta Georgia. I will then board Delta flight 101 at 9:10 P.M. and arrive in Buenos Aires at 9:10 A.M. Feb. 20th.  We will spend two nights in Buenos Aires–maybe I will learn to do the tango.  Then we will fly to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world and board our cruise ship,Le Lyrial, at 5:00 P.M. on the Feb. 22nd.

February 24

Today we were going to have a special landing at the sheland islands.  However the winds were too strong for the zodiacs to travel safely.  So we are back at sea.  We did get a good look at the Shetland islands from the ship.  We were fitted for our boots. Tomorrow we are scheduled to have two landings.  The forecast is for less wind.  The ship sailed thru Drakes Passage with no problems.  Will try to post some pictures but there are some complications
