(Photo courtesy Brad Wise)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During our time in the Notre Dame MBA program, and especially during our first weeks on campus, we have the opportunity to hear alumni, administrators, faculty, and friends of the program speak on a variety of topics. Regardless of the issue at hand, these individuals always make a point to share their thoughts on Notre Dame as a whole \u2013 the people, the campus, the history, or a notable past experience that makes this a special place. \u00a0A central theme \u2013 a piece of advice, more accurately \u2013 runs through each commentary: \u201cGet yourself outside of the business school to see and experience everything that Notre Dame has to offer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Many of my classmates have followed this advice, participating in music ensembles, theater productions, intramural sports, worship opportunities, or simply a daily walk around campus.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My own \u201clife outside Mendoza\u201d led me to our beautiful <a href=\"http:\/\/warrengolfcourse.com\/\">Warren Golf Course<\/a> and the University of Notre Dame <a href=\"http:\/\/recsports.nd.edu\/club-sports\/\">Club Golf Team<\/a>. I had never played organized, competitive golf in a team environment until I came to Notre Dame, usually opting for a casual round to clear my head or a friendly wager to keep it interesting. \u00a0Unlikely to have an opportunity like this again, I decided to give it a shot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Despite being considerably older than some of my teammates (the occasional \u201cold man\u201d back stretches between shots are difficult to hide), this group welcomed me with open arms. \u00a0Traveling to represent Notre Dame at Regionals and Nationals has been a great opportunity to bond with students outside Mendoza and to experience what it is like to be a part of the greater University community. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participating in the Notre Dame community beyond Mendoza has made my MBA a more fulfilling experience, and I would issue the same challenge my classmates and I received to future students: Get out of Mendoza and experience what it really means to be Irish.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>About Brad<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-157 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/mba-irish-echoes\/files\/2016\/11\/AAEAAQAAAAAAAATiAAAAJDRlYjc5ZDRkLTc2MmMtNDQ2Ni1hNTc5LTIyMTUyNmEyNGE5Mg.jpg\" alt=\"aaeaaqaaaaaaaatiaaaajdrlyjc5zdrkltc2mmmtndq2ni1hntc5ltiymtuynmeynge5mg\" width=\"301\" height=\"301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/mba-irish-echoes\/files\/2016\/11\/AAEAAQAAAAAAAATiAAAAJDRlYjc5ZDRkLTc2MmMtNDQ2Ni1hNTc5LTIyMTUyNmEyNGE5Mg.jpg 200w, https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/mba-irish-echoes\/files\/2016\/11\/AAEAAQAAAAAAAATiAAAAJDRlYjc5ZDRkLTc2MmMtNDQ2Ni1hNTc5LTIyMTUyNmEyNGE5Mg-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 301px) 85vw, 301px\" \/><\/strong><\/em><em>Brad\u00a0lived in Columbus, Ohio, prior to business school.
