When I decided to move to South Bend from Chicago to attend the Notre Dame MBA program, I felt like I had sentenced myself to culinary oblivion. I pictured endless cans of Ragu and soggy homemade pasta. However, from my first day on campus, I discovered many of my classmates were ardent foodies. Within the past few months, we have found a lot of local gems. Here are a few of my favorites:\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Girls\u2019\/Boys\u2019 Night Out: <\/b>Salsa\u2019s Mexican Grill<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Hands down my favorite restaurant in the South Bend area. \u00a0The interior of the restaurant alone is worth the visit \u2013 it feels like you teleported to Mexico. During the winter months when you\u2019re knee-deep in snow, it\u2019s a nice way to remember that sometimes it\u2019s warm outside. \u00a0It goes without saying that the margarita pitchers aren\u2019t half-bad either.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Parents are in Town: <\/b>Corndance Tavern<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

We all want to impress our parents when they visit, and I\u2019d say the best bet is taking them to Corndance Tavern. The ingredients in the dishes are mostly bought locally, and you can practically see how fresh the dish is. <\/span><\/p>\n

Bonus: The Sword of John Adams was definitely made with hungry dads in mind.<\/span><\/p>\n

Date Night: <\/b>Caf\u00e9 Navarre<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Probably one of the pricier options in South Bend, but a sure way to impress your significant other. Caf\u00e9 Navarre is located in the middle of downtown South Bend in a converted historic building. Just like Corndance, the ingredients are from local farms.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s Tuesday: <\/b>Evil Czech Brewery<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Seriously. \u00a0If you don\u2019t go to Evil Czech Brewery\u2019s Taco Tuesday at least once in your time at Notre Dame, I\u2019m pretty sure you\u2019re not eligible to graduate. Street tacos start at $2, and they\u2019re even better when you wash it down with one of EC\u2019s craft beers.<\/span><\/p>\n
