{"id":1234,"date":"2016-02-25T15:05:41","date_gmt":"2016-02-25T15:05:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nd.edu\/patentlaw\/?p=1234"},"modified":"2016-02-25T15:05:55","modified_gmt":"2016-02-25T15:05:55","slug":"tips-and-tricks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/patentlaw\/2016\/02\/25\/tips-and-tricks\/","title":{"rendered":"Tips and tricks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/patentlaw\/files\/2016\/02\/tips.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1233\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1233\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/patentlaw\/files\/2016\/02\/tips-297x300.png\" alt=\"tips\" width=\"297\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/patentlaw\/files\/2016\/02\/tips-297x300.png 297w, https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/patentlaw\/files\/2016\/02\/tips.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 297px) 100vw, 297px\" \/><\/a>A post from student blogger Nicole<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the first semester, our Patent Law and Prosecution I teacher would generously provide us with tips for taking the Patent Bar Exam.\u00a0 Everyone appreciates a helping hand so I\u2019ve decided to share some of the tips today.<\/p>\n<p>Tip 1: One of the most helpful tips I received from the professor was to create a matrix with the question numbers and letters.\u00a0 I find that this will be very helpful for me when I take the exam.\u00a0 That way when I come to a question I don\u2019t know, I can eliminate some of the answers I know are wrong and then skip the question and come back to it later.\u00a0 I\u2019ll already have some of the answers crossed out, and I\u2019ll have a fresher look at the answers left.<\/p>\n<p>Tip 2: Read the questions and answers carefully.\u00a0 Make sure the question isn\u2019t saying <u>not<\/u> patentable or <u>not<\/u> in accordance.\u00a0 Underline important information or certain words like I just did.\u00a0 Also be careful with the wording of certain questions.<\/p>\n<p>Tip 3: Don\u2019t just glance at certain parts of the question.\u00a0 Sometimes a part of the question you think seems irrelevant, might actually be the most important part of the question.<\/p>\n<p>Tip 4: Don\u2019t get caught up in all the dates if one of the questions has several different dates in it.\u00a0 Sometimes this is to trick you.<\/p>\n<p>Tip 5: Keep a good pace.\u00a0 You only get 3 minutes and 36 seconds to answer each question.\u00a0 That may seem like a lot of time, but a bunch of the questions are long with a lot of information in them.\u00a0 If you have to look up a question, you really have to budget your time.<\/p>\n<p>Tip 6: There are a lot of questions on 35 USC 102 and 35 USC 103.<\/p>\n<p>So on a side note here are some additional little tricks that will help when taking the exam.\u00a0 When in doubt pick the answer that includes the words \u201cand pay the fee\u201d.\u00a0 The USPTO loves money.\u00a0 Also some of the questions are \u201cmost correct answer\u201d so they may all sound right, but only one is the most right.\u00a0 In my opinion this is the worst kind of question.\u00a0 But anyway, I hope some of these tips will help out and good luck to anyone who is going to take the Patent Bar Exam!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A post from student blogger Nicole Throughout the first semester, our Patent Law and Prosecution I teacher would generously provide us with tips for taking the Patent Bar Exam.\u00a0 Everyone appreciates a helping hand so I\u2019ve decided to share some &hellip;
