{"id":622,"date":"2013-03-01T19:09:16","date_gmt":"2013-03-01T19:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nd.edu\/patentlaw\/?p=622"},"modified":"2013-03-06T20:24:21","modified_gmt":"2013-03-06T20:24:21","slug":"students-apply-ip-knowledge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/patentlaw\/2013\/03\/01\/students-apply-ip-knowledge\/","title":{"rendered":"Students Apply IP Knowledge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This post is part of an article appearing in the <a href=\"http:\/\/science.nd.edu\/assets\/94191\/notredamescience_winter2013.pdf\">Winter edition<\/a> of <\/em>Notre Dame Science<em> magazine. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Three students in the Master of Science in Patent Law program are working with Notre Dame alumnus Shane Fimbel, chief operating officer at Union Station Technology Center in South Bend, on a project to help Nationwide Children\u2019s Hospital of Columbus, Ohio, accelerate the commercialization of the hospital\u2019s innovations.<\/p>\n<p>Kerisha Bowen, Ashley Ferraro and Ke Min are involved in the pilot study by Intellectual Analytics, whose innovative methodology, TechnoFlow, uses large data sets to identify and predict the innovative output of research laboratories. They expect to publish a peer-reviewed article on Nationwide\u2019s technologies and create a series of dashboards for key metrics for Nationwide\u2019s technology transfer office as well as measure the hospital\u2019s innovative output.<\/p>\n<p>Fimbel, who earned a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at Notre Dame in 2007, worked for three years at the Purdue Research Foundation&#8217;s Office of Technology Commercialization before returning to South Bend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This post is part of an article appearing in the Winter edition of Notre Dame Science magazine.
