Building on the success of the 2024 Health Equity Data Science Challenge, HDAC is set to become an annual event that amplifies the University&#8217;s Bioengineering &amp; Life Sciences (BELS) mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Analyze Real-World Datasets<\/strong>: Students will work with actual health data to detect population-level differences and identify critical gaps in access to care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Develop Actionable Interventions<\/strong>: Beyond analysis, teams will recommend concrete interventions to improve health outcomes and service quality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Showcase Talent<\/strong>: The challenge serves as a pipeline for Notre Dame data science talent, allowing students to present their solutions to a panel of judges from industry, government, and academia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A collaboration between the <strong>Berthiaume Institute for Precision Health<\/strong> (AD Prakash Nallathamby) and the <strong>Lucy Family Institute for Data &amp; Society<\/strong> (MD Katie Liu), and supported by the Provost&#8217;s strategic <strong>BELS initiative<\/strong>, HDAC aims to equip the next generation of leaders with the multidisciplinary tools and techniques needed to advance human health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/precisionhealth.nd.edu\/news-events\/news\/multi-unit-research-teams-receive-support-for-bioengineering-and-life-sciences-projects\">https:\/\/precisionhealth.nd.edu\/news-events\/news\/multi-unit-research-teams-receive-support-for-bioengineering-and-life-sciences-projects<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are excited to announce support for the Health Data and Analytics Challenge (HDAC), a forward-thinking initiative designed to harness the power of data to solve pressing real-world health issues.
