In our quest to find easy recipes that incorporated the use of fruits or vegetables, we focused our search on dishes that required few utensils and ingredients, short preparation time and minimal expenditure. All the fruits and vegetables needed can be bought inexpensively at your local Farmer&#8217;s Market or general supermarket and all contain wonderful properties that are excellent for your health. So go ahead and try something different today!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Fresh Kohlrabi Salad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/2Bd_MeHxhkAvobjbJ3EQmdFe1loytT_mkUszf8dXMGOMAlLQzV5dmmgGXfVkqhyXy24Iw1BnH_Javxc3fi3b4eeHSVKYk3F9q4EpLFYoP0fzljB-tVU\" alt=\"\" width=\"120px;\" height=\"120px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ingredients:<br \/>\n2 head kohlrabi ($1 each)<br \/>\n1 apple (less than $.25 each)<br \/>\n3 tablespoons of cooking vinegar<br \/>\n3 tablespoons of cooking oil<br \/>\nSalt and pepper to taste<\/p>\n<p>Utensils:<br \/>\nKnife and cutting board<br \/>\nBowl<br \/>\nMeasuring spoons<\/p>\n<p>Serves 4 people<br \/>\nPreparation time: 15-20 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Recipe:<br \/>\n1. Use a knife to carefully peel and cut off the \u201cbranches\u201d of the kohlrabi.<br \/>\n2. Chop the kohlrabi and the apple \u00a0into thin slices.<br \/>\n3. Toss the kohlrabi and the apple slices together with the remaining ingredients.<br \/>\n4. To make the squash easier to cut, poke a few holes into the squash and microwave for about 2 minutes.<br \/>\n2. Peel the squash and cut into squares.<br \/>\n3. In a large soup pot, combine the squash with the other ingredients.<br \/>\n4. Cover the pot and cook on the stove for 15 minutes on medium heat or until squash is soft enough to eat.<br \/>\n5. Serve over rice or enjoy the squash on its own.<\/p>\n<p>Nutritional Values:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Low in fat<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">High in fiber, vitamin C, potassium, folate<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">May decrease risk of heart disease<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Apple Tart<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong id=\"internal-source-marker_0.007067053811624646\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/UcfbkgtbnWvdyNSoaMJaqACPhEjIoZryx8GEdeuaJvlWRSVc0x3Cmb40UVRLYC7Yfk2CyIIHa2qilN4qpaifXbWSQTWTTDk8YMmctaDdketI2GjZ2Ps\" alt=\"\" width=\"120px;\" height=\"103px;\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ingredients:<br \/>\n2 pie crusts ($1.50 for 2)<br \/>\n2 apple (less than $.50 each)<br \/>\n2 tablespoon of lemon juice ($2)<br \/>\nYour favorite jam<strong><strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Utensils:<br \/>\nRolling pin (or a bottle as a substitute)<br \/>\nKnife and cutting board<br \/>\nBaking pan and parchment paper<br \/>\nMeasuring spoons<\/p>\n<p>Serves 4 people (2 pies)<br \/>\nPreparation time: 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Recipe:<br \/>\n1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.<br \/>\n2. Lay the pie crust flat on the pan and sprinkle sugar on both sides of the pie crust.<br \/>\n3. Slice apples and set them in a bowl with lemon juice for 3 minutes.<br \/>\n4. Place the lemon soaked apple slices into the middle of the pie crust and fold extra crust inward to cover the apples.<br \/>\n6. Put the pan in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.<br \/>\n7.
