Summary of 2018 PSP Workshop
Date and Location
-
- Pressure-Sensitive Paint workshop was held as part of the 2018 AIAA SciTech Forum in January 2018 in Kissimmee, Florida.
Agenda
(1) Image Sensors and Camera Systems for Pressure Sensitive Paint (PSP) and Temperature Sensitive Paint (TSP) Applications
Speaker: Gerhard Holst, PCO AG, Germany
Presentation of PCO sensors: future trend is CMOS and sCMOS and (longer term) burst cameras. Discontinuation of the CCD interline sensor used in the lifetime (on-chip accumulation). Presentation of new FLIM camera based on phase detection. However, timing (synchronization between multiple cameras) not as accurate as CCD cameras.

(2) AEDC Pressure Sensitive Paint: From Model-T to Tesla (R)
Marvin Sellers, USAF, USA
History and status of PSP at AEDC. Impressive presentation which gives an overview of the progress made at AEDC since the origin, with lots figures. To date, $3M invested on steady PSP, planned $5M investment on unsteady PSP production testing. Key milestones, switch to lifetime, installation of 8 cameras and PSP integration, development of unsteady PSP capability with ISSI.

(3) Unsteady Pressure-Sensitive Paint: A Review and Recent Developments
Keisuke Asai, Tohoku University, Japan
Unsteady PSP review and recent developments. Discussion on the coatings, measurement methods and the post-processing. Notable improvement on the pressure resolution using SVD: down to 10Pa2/Hz floor (improvement by a factor 10). Able to resolve unsteady flow behind a square cylinder at 50m/s. Interesting approach of reducing square size to test frequency detection limit (1770Hz).
