Sabal, <em>Processing Archivist for Special Collections<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Hugo Achugar Papers have been recently described and are open to students and researchers.<\/p>\n<p>Hugo Achugar (1944-) is a Uruguayan literary critic and prolific writer of poetry and essays. He has held teaching positions at universities in both Latin America and the United States, including Universidad de la Rep\u00fablica, Uruguay; Universidad Cat\u00f3lica, Venezuela; Northwestern University; and Dartmouth College. He currently serves as a member of <a href=\"https:\/\/mll.as.miami.edu\/people\/emeritus-faculty\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Emeritus Faculty at the University of Miami<\/a>. Some of Achugar\u2019s better-known works include <em>Ideolog\u00edas y estructuras narrativas en Jos\u00e9 Donoso, 1950-1970<\/em>, a literary essay on the works of Jos\u00e9 Donoso; <em>Hueso Quevrado (cuaderno de la Bah\u00eda)<\/em>, a collection of poetry; and <em>Falsas Memorias: Blanca Luz Brum<\/em>, a fictionalized account of the life of Blanca Luz Brum.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3943\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3943\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/rbsc\/files\/2019\/02\/MSH-LAT_0091-006.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3943 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/rbsc\/files\/2019\/02\/MSH-LAT_0091-006-1024x762.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/rbsc\/files\/2019\/02\/MSH-LAT_0091-006-1024x762.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/rbsc\/files\/2019\/02\/MSH-LAT_0091-006-300x223.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/rbsc\/files\/2019\/02\/MSH-LAT_0091-006-768x571.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3943\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Conference Materials, 1991, 2008<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The collection consists of manuscripts, photographs, clippings, and journals, all forming a record of Achugar\u2019s professional career. Included are correspondence, notes and research files, lecture and conference materials, and poetry. For some works, there are multiple drafts written at different points in time, allowing researchers to follow Achugar\u2019s writing process.
