{"id":2,"date":"2017-09-21T11:10:18","date_gmt":"2017-09-21T11:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/reading-keats\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2017-09-29T12:47:15","modified_gmt":"2017-09-29T16:47:15","slug":"call-for-papers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/reading-keats\/call-for-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Proposals are invited for a bicentennial conference on <b>\u201cKeats\u2019s Reading \/ Reading Keats,\u201d<\/b> to be held in <b>London July 20-22, 2018<\/b>.\u00a0 The conference will coincide with the launch of a digital edition of John Keats\u2019s richly annotated copy of <i>Paradise Lost<\/i>, which is being prepared by the three conference organizers (Daniel Johnson, Beth Lau, and Greg Kucich).<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the 200<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Keats\u2019s close study of Milton\u2019s epic poem (dating from 1818), the conference will explore the topic of writers reading and responding to other writers.\u00a0 Participants are invited to examine either Keats\u2019s intertextual dialogues with other poets or prose writers, or later writers\u2019 (or artists\u2019) creative engagement with Keats\u2019s poetry.\u00a0 Papers may also examine the reception history of Keats\u2019s poetry over the past two centuries.\u00a0 Speakers are especially encouraged (but not required) to consider marginalia as evidence of Keats\u2019s or other writers\u2019 reading practices and engagements with particular texts.<\/p>\n<p>The first day of the conference will take place at Keats House, Hampstead, and will include a keynote address by Susan Wolfson and an evening reception.
