Reception, Identity, Politics&#8221; will take place on Saturday, 6 April, at 4 p.m. We are pleased to welcome Haruko Momma (New York University) and Sarah Salih (King&#8217;s College London) as our keynote panelists.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ndias.nd.edu\/assets\/213632\/300x375\/haruko_momma.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for haruko momma\" width=\"134\" height=\"168\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.english.utoronto.ca\/facultystaff\/facultyprofiles\/Momma.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Professor Haruko Momma<\/a> of New York University describes herself as a philologist, as &#8216;someone who uses diverse words and languages as entrance points to explore the cultures of the people who have used them&#8217;. Her 2012 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Philology-English-Studies-Language-Nineteenth\/dp\/1107515610\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><i>From Philology to English Studies: Language and Culture in the Nineteenth Century<\/i><\/em><\/a> (Cambridge University Press) traces the history of philology through the dramatic changes in the field taking place, primarily, in the nineteenth century.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/ImportedImages\/Schools\/Artshums\/staffprofiles\/Lastset\/SarahSalih7002.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for sarah salih kcl\" width=\"128\" height=\"165\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/artshums\/depts\/english\/people\/academic\/salih.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sarah Salih<\/a> is Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at King&#8217;s College London. Sarah&#8217;s research interests include sexuality, gender and subjectivity; intersections of literature, practice and the visual arts; East Anglian culture; and medievalisms. She is one of the organizers of the Institute of Historical Research&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.ac.uk\/events\/seminar\/interdisciplinary-medievalism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Interdisciplinary Seminar on Medievalism<\/a>. And she recently co-edited the <i>Studies in Medievalism <\/i>collection &#8216;Medievalist Visions&#8217; (2016), in which she writes that the &#8216;enlivening, recreation, and continuation&#8217; of the material remains of the past &#8216;is not only a scholarly exercise, but an activity performed, differently, by all of us who live among them&#8217; (69).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The keynote panel for &#8220;Remembering the Middle Ages?
