This lake is bordered by a narrow strip of woodland, surrounded by residential properties and agricultural fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">The wetland covers an area of about 20 acres with limited open water. The area appears to be partly marsh, and is dominated by shrubs such as buttonbush (<em>Cephalanthus occidentalis<\/em>) and winterberry (<em>Ilex verticillata<\/em>). Swamp rose (<em>Rosa palustris<\/em>), swamp loosestrife (<em>Decodon verticillatus<\/em>), and the carnivorous humped bladderwort (<em>Utricularia gibba<\/em>) can also be found here. More than 20 native plant species have been found at this location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">There is currently no public access to this lake. Especially due to the lack of access, there is very limited information about Augustine Lake. This lake would benefit from a comprehensive survey of the plant and animal species present, which would provide a better understanding of its role in the broader corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Augustine Lake is located near the middle of the chain, just east of Quince Road and north of U.S. 20.
