We encourage documenting what you see using phone apps such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inaturalist.org\/\">iNaturalist <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/ebird.org\/home\">eBird<\/a>, but also sharing observations to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/667970636230580\">Kettle Lakes Facebook group<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Support organizations<\/strong> that work to preserve and restore these important habitats, such <a href=\"https:\/\/heinzetrust.org\/\">Shirley Heinze Land Trust<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sjcparks.org\/\">St. Joseph County Parks<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cfsjc.org\/\">Community Foundation of St Joseph County.<\/a> You can <strong>volunteer<\/strong> your time, make financial and land <strong>donations <\/strong>to many of these organizations, or <strong>advocate<\/strong> for preservation of areas of land, especially for the benefit of future generations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be good stewards<\/strong> of your property. <strong>Reduce or eliminate<\/strong> the application of harmful pesticides, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Glyphosate\">glyphosate<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Neonicotinoid\">neonicotinoids<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/watersense\/landscaping-tips\"><strong>Minimize <\/strong>resource use<\/a> when maintaining landscapes by mowing grass less frequently, while applying less water and fertilizer.
