A brief personal bio:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am Yuhan Jin, born and raised in Shanghai, China. I study a bit of this and that at Notre Dame, and I am always very confused.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why this summer language abroad opportunity is important to me:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have always admitted that starting Italian was an accident, because the intensive French course was cancelled; but I have never regretted since then. I chose to add an Italian Major, and I hope to practice Italian during this upcoming summer. To me, studying a new language is not only about new opportunities, but it is also about discovering a more complete self.<\/span><\/p>\n

What I hope to achieve as a result of this summer study abroad experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am going to Siena this summer, which is situated between Rome and Florence, two of my favorite cities in Italy. I hope to gain reasonable fluency, which means being able to express fifth grade ideas in Italian. Learning language is a tough process. Physically being there doesn’t automatically cast a magic spell on you, but it does give you the motivation to go on, and I hope to use that motivation to learn more about Italy.<\/span><\/p>\n

My specific learning goals for language and intercultural learning this summer:<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the end of the summer, I will be able to know many Italian idioms that can’t be translated into English ore Chinese.\u00a0<\/span>
At the end of the summer, I will be able to dream in Italian.\u00a0<\/span>
At the end of the summer, I will be able to speak Italian, without saying too much “e” and “eh”.<\/span><\/p>\n

My plan for maximizing my international language learning experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The geographical location of Siena is perfect. Aside from being a beautiful city itself, I will be able to go to Rome and Florence via public transportation very often. Other than that, speak Italian, read Italian and listen to Italian.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\u6d6a\u6f2b\u4e3b\u4e49\u7684\u60c5\u6000\u8ba9\u6211\u89c9\u5f97\u7f57\u9a6c\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u8ba9\u4eba\u60f3\u8981\u505a\u7231\u7684\u57ce\u6c60\u3002\u5bf9\u4e8e\u4e00\u4e2a\u75f4\u8ff7\u5171\u548c\u56fd\u5386\u53f2\u548c\u5bf9\u795e\u66f2\u7a0d\u6709\u5165\u95e8\u7684\u6211\u6765\u8bf4\uff0c\u5c1a\u672a\u8e0f\u8db3\uff0c\u4fbf\u9b42\u7275\u68a6\u7ed5\u7684\u6709\u4e24\u4e2a\u57ce\u5e02\u3002\u4e24\u4e2a\u90fd\u5728\u610f\u5927\u5229\uff0c\u7b2c\u4e00\u4e2a\u5c31\u662f\u4e03\u4e18\u4e4b\u57ce\u3002
