Abigail Mitchell was a 2013 Apprentice Artist at the Santa Fe Opera, where she covered Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro and appeared in the Apprentice Showcase as Donna Anna and Manon in Henze’s Boulevard Solitude. She has been invited to return to Santa Fe in 2014, where she will sing in the family performances of True North and Written in the Stars.
Abigail’s recent and upcoming engagements include Galatea in Acis and Galatea with the New Dominion Chorale, soprano soloist in Les illuminations with the Avanti Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, and Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte with Tacoma Opera. Additional performances include Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Norina in Don Pasquale at the Chateau de Panloy in France, Marzelline in Fidelio with the Oxford Philomusica in England, and Carmina Burana at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
Abigail is a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and the Royal College of Music, London. She made her professional debut as Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos with the Indianapolis Opera in 2009.
