Go to sites.nd.edu and look for the login link on the lower left hand side navigation:<\/span><\/p>\n

Choose the option to Log in with NetID\/Okta:<\/span><\/p>\n

If it is not selected by default, click on My Sites:<\/span><\/p>\n

You should see your blog(s) listed.\u00a0 Choose the Dashboard of the blog that you wish to add users to:<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Dashboard view, select the Users dashboard on the left:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

At the top of the screen, click on Add New:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Add New User.\u00a0 Select the desired role.\u00a0 (Your students may need to be authors, rather than contributors.)<\/span><\/p>\n

WordPress will display a message indicating that an invitation has been sent to this new user:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Repeat these steps for each student.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students need to look for an email invitation to join the sites.nd.edu WordPress site.<\/p>\n

That email may end up in the Spam folder.<\/p>\n

The sender will be: sites.nd.edu\u00a0<webgroup@nd.edu><\/strong><\/p>\n

The subject line will read:<\/p>\n

“[Notre Dame WordPress] Activate netid ” — <\/em>where netid is replaced the student’s netid<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After students click on the invitation link to confirm, they will be sent a second email which will contain login instructions.\u00a0 Since they use Okta, these instructions are not needed, unless a student registers with a non-ND email address.<\/div>\n

WordPress roles:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Administrator<\/strong> — you<\/span><\/p>\n

Editor<\/strong> — possibly a TA, or if you are co-teaching, your colleague<\/span><\/p>\n

Author<\/strong> — possible role for students, depending on the types of activities you want them to engage in.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Authors can write, edit, and publish their own posts.\u00a0 They can also delete their own posts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Authors can view comments that are pending review, but they cannot moderate, approve or delete comments.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Authors cannot access site settings, plugins, or themes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Contributor<\/strong> — possible role for students, again, depending on the types of activities you want them to engage in.<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Contributors can add new posts and edit their own posts, but they cannot publish their posts.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Contributors cannot upload files, which means they cannot add images to their articles.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Subscriber<\/strong> —<\/span><\/p>\n

      • Cannot write posts or view comments.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Subscribers can read posts and leave a comment.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
