TC2-SADE Integrated Simulation Environment

TC2: Scalable, multi-sUAS Simulation Environment
Address existing bottlenecks in delivering a highly scalable and realistic multi-sUAS simulation environment for training and validating the DRP during the research phase of this work, and subsequently supporting sUAS operators and manufacturers in developing, testing, and validating their own sUAS software systems in a multi-sUAS SADE environment.

  • TC2.1 High-Fidelity Simulation Environment: The SADE simulation environment supports SADE-related research and experimentation through facilitating the construction of a benchmark data-set of sUAS flights, provides a multi-sUAS simulation environment that future sUAS developers can use to test their own sUAS systems and to replay flight logs when problems have occurred during flight, and finally, it enables operators to build and/or improve their sUAS reputations prior to making on-entry requests into a SADE Zone
  • TC2.2 Testing, Validation, and Benchmarks: The SADE simulator will support the immediate goal of building experimental benchmark datasets, as well as the longer-term goals of providing a rich testing and validation environment for future SADE users. These users need the ability to specify, execute, and validate complex test scenarios that include realistic missions within SADE Zones supported by test infrastructure that provides user guidance and support.
  • TC2.3: Accessible Simulation at Scale: Support large numbers of sUAS in a SADE Zone, the simulation must scale up while being accessible to users without high-performance computing resources. Furthermore, simulations may need to run at different speeds: faster than real-time for large numbers of sUAS with visualization; slower than real-time if it permits evaluation of larger numbers of sUAS; and exactly real-time for human-on-the-loop scenarios.
