We will learn about hymns from ancient times through the twentieth century, observe how they develop over time, sing them together, and discuss the beliefs they embody. Our discussion should foster mutual understanding among people of differing beliefs. Students will have a chance to present favorite hymns for us to discuss and sing. Traditions represented will depend on the background of the students. Though it seems likely that we will focus on hymns from Judaeo-Christian tradition, we would welcome students and hymns from other traditions.
