Join our four-week, credit-bearing academic program designed for new Balfour Scholars. Experience university life and build a supportive community for a successful college journey.
Classes: Attend five classes on weekdays, with team-building activities on weekends for academic, social, and emotional growth.
Cohorts: Freshmen are divided into ALBA (Arts & Letters, Business, Architecture) and STEM groups, each with tailored classes and shared meal times.

Living Arrangements: Students live in adjacent dorms, sharing rooms with fellow scholars, and are paired with upperclassmen (Bigs) to navigate college life.
Weekend Activities Include:
- Taste of South Bend: Explore local eateries.
- Leadership through the Barn Door.
- Escape Room or Rum Village Adventures.
- Volunteer at Unity Gardens.
- Six Flags or Cedar Point trips.
- Bigs-Littles bonding events.
Bigs-Littles Program: Community is key. Big-Little families engage in fun activities, fostering lasting connections.
Program Costs: Covered by the BHSP, including travel, meals, and housing—students incur no expenses.
Dates: The program runs from mid-June to mid-July.
