Do Autocratizing Incumbents Lose Elections?

An interactive database by Erin Accampo Hern and Marc S. Jacob, a companion to their research paper. It is embedded below, and also available at marc-s-jacob.com/incumbents.

The page includes a world map showing where these elections took place and a searchable, sortable table of every case. Selecting an election shows the candidates, their vote shares and the electoral system, and the data can be filtered by political system and by whether the incumbent was returned or defeated.
