Glad to see this article highlighting the work of my colleagues Bill Purcell and Mike Hebbeler for their Center for Social Concerns Seminar that takes a range of summer students (including Notre Dame football players, but not only them) into the community for a community-based learning course that addresses race, gender, privilege, and poverty, among other important topics.   Notre Dame players learn what it means to help the less fortunate – South Bend Tribune: Football.
