My research involves the development, improvement, and evaluation of statistical methods with an emphasis on measurement. My primarily research areas are the design of research studies, especially sample size planning. Effect size and confidence intervals play an important role in my research. Much of my work depends heavily on statistical computing, with most of the methods I have developed implemented in my MBESS R package. In addition to my methodological work, I collaborate in a variety of areas where I can develop needed or apply existing, usually nonstandard, methods.
