I am a first year Master’s student working on the Salt Marsh Ecosystem Dynamics. I am interested in studying shifts in biogeochemical processes occurring in coastal tidal marshes due to genotypic variation in Schoenoplectus americanus in the context of global change. Along with our collaborators at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, we’re combining tools such as field experiments, remote sensing, modeling, and genomics to better understand how present and historic populations of S. americanus will support their critical role as ecosystem engineers.
