Kira Sullivan Wiley

I am a behavioral geographer using tools from the social sciences to better understand human-environment relationships. I am a postdoc in the lab helping to lead the social science component of the Indiana-Illinois Forest Management Project. In my research, I combine quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis to study how people’s perceptions shape their behavior; how behavior shapes social, economic, and environmental outcomes; and how these outcomes affect well-being. My work seeks to better understand how information and interventions can improve management to produce landscapes that improve both human and environmental well-being. I received my B.S. in ecology and evolutionary biology, my M.A. in climate science and development, and my Ph.D. in geography and work in collaboration with scholars, practitioners, and local experts in the US, Belgium, Uganda, and Brazil.
