I have been experimenting with beer, cider, wine, and mead for a good while now. Brewing is a great way to combine chemistry, mechanical engineering, and materials science, plus its truly a rewarding hobby that you can share with your friends. I find a lot of what makes good fermentation comes down to just procuring the best possible ingredients and having the patience to wait months to try something; that being said temperature control and over-the-top sanitation never hurt too bad, either. I really have loved the home brewing journey and winning a medal at the nation-wide level for the NHC is a long-term goal of mine!
