Augustine Lake is located near the middle of the chain, just east of Quince Road and north of U.S. 20. This lake is bordered by a narrow strip of woodland, surrounded by residential properties and agricultural fields.
The wetland covers an area of about 20 acres with limited open water. The area appears to be partly marsh, and is dominated by shrubs such as buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) and winterberry (Ilex verticillata). Swamp rose (Rosa palustris), swamp loosestrife (Decodon verticillatus), and the carnivorous humped bladderwort (Utricularia gibba) can also be found here. More than 20 native plant species have been found at this location.
There is currently no public access to this lake. Especially due to the lack of access, there is very limited information about Augustine Lake. This lake would benefit from a comprehensive survey of the plant and animal species present, which would provide a better understanding of its role in the broader corridor.
