North Chain Lake (that in the past was called Bass Lake) is located toward the middle of the corridor, north of Edison Road and east of Quince Road. This lake is surrounded by private property, including Camp Ray Bird, managed by Ray Bird Ministries, on the eastern side, with woodland and many smaller wetlands. Lydick Bog Nature Preserve borders the north of the lake.
North Chain Lake covers 79 acres, with a large area of open water. There is sparse submergent marsh in the shallower regions near the lake’s edge, while to the north and south ends there are more areas of aquatic vegetation, as well as an inlet to the northwest connected by a small channel. An ecological survey is needed to identify what plants and animal species are present and to establish a better understanding of the environment of this location.
This lake is an open-water public lake used for fishing and boating. A public boat ramp, accessible from Quince Road, provides access on the west side.
