Carlos Arias Matus

Carlos is originally from Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. He obtained his M.D. degree at UPAEP University and served as a family doctor for low-income populations in and surrounding Puebla City for over a year. He decided to combine his passion for patient care with a curiosity for research by returning to UPAEP University to pursue his Master’s in Biotechnology. Since his graduation, he has worked on understanding potential biomarkers present in the tumor microenvironment that promote breast cancer growth and therapeutic resistance. Outside of science, Carlos spends time playing video games, watching series, and visiting coffee shops.
