The Leoma Patterson case was revisited for a third time in Chapter 16. Dr. Bass was determined to figure out once and for all if it was Leoma they pulled from the grave. He sent teeth from the skeleton to his friend, Jason, in a DNA lab. Jason was unsuccessful in getting a viable DNA sample from the teeth. Luckily, an old FBI agent found some pieces of scalp from the scene in an old evidence box. It had enough DNA to run it and get conclusive results. Leoma Patterson was identified as the body from inside the grave.
